Cool Aussie fact #1: That cool sound you're hearing is the native Australians' eucalyptus didgeridoo (dij-air-i-du).

For more information on these instruments, see this webpage:

G'day, Generous Sponsors!

If you are reading this webpage, then you are my sponsor, and I am so glad that you've come to visit and see what's up!  Please check in anytime to see how planning is going for my trip to Australia on June 1st-20th, with People to People's Student Ambassador Program.  Feel free to check out their website at www.studentambassadors.org if you want to know more.

First, let me say again, thank you so much for sponsoring me on this journey.  It's truly a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, and I appreciate your support in making it a reality for me.

Secondly, please feel free to keep in touch with me.  I would appreciate any advice that you have to give and any input at all.  My email address is: annemariegalvan@sbcglobal.net

Thanks so much to my family and close friends, for getting involved in my fundraising and for spreading the word on my behalf.  It's great to be surrounded by people who support me in this experience.  Thanks to the first of my donors, I was able to get in my second installment just in time to hold my spot.

I should have lots of pictures to show along the way as I prepare for this trip, as well as when I return.  It's a lot more work than I expected.  There are health records, a passport, studying protocols, with a lot of regular meetings and assignments to do as a group in researching this place before we go there.  The teachers have made it clear that this adventure is not only for fun but also is educational.  I plan to keep you updated with little facts that I learn while getting educated on this awesome continent.  I figure that, since you're graciously willing to give me your time and sponsorship, I will be more than happy to share the experience!  Please check in every few days for my journal entries.  Feel free to put this website on your desktop.  And please excuse any mistakes made on this page (overlapping and margins) because I'm learning how to design a webpage with my mom as part of this experience.

For Spring Break this coming week (March 15-19th), I'll be hitting the pavement, calling on local businesses in person to drum up more financial support.  I figure I'll dress up nicely, shake some hands, and explain my fortunate situation.  I've already learned so much about presenting myself and getting people interested in being part of cross-cultural exchange.

Our delegation has meetings every couple of weeks on Sunday afternoons.  My delegate leaders are Deborah Whitley and Erin Tenczar, and they seem really nice.  There are about 17 of us students in this delegation from the Houston area, and we'll be joining students from South Carolina on the trip, which will bring us to a total of about 40.  It's going to be so cool!

Feel free to browse my planning journal (My Journal) by clicking on the hyperlink below.  If a link doesn't work just yet, please know that this site is a work in progress and is being added to daily.

God bless, and enjoy!
